Biography
Mr Ahira has been a member of the Lords Team since 2006. With over 25 years’ experience within the Immigration field and working (under supervision of the Principle Solicitor), heads the Immigration Department, advising in all aspects of immigration, asylum and human rights, at all levels. Ahira has a wealth of experience in defending clients against deportation and in judicial review matters (including urgent applications and injunctions) and civil claims for damages for unlawful detention and recovering costs against the Secretary of State for manifestly flawed decisions resulting in clients incurring unnecessary costs in initiating judicial review claims. He has a particular interest in cases where family law overlaps with human rights, often involving the obtaining of Psychological Reports of Experts.
Mr Ahira has been privileged enough to have worked with highly respected BBC Journalist Mr Sitojiddin Tolibov, Country Expert Mr Mark Faulkner in relation to disputed nationality claims and Counsel’s such as Mr Manjit Gill QC, in overturning a Supreme Court decision.
Hence, he can confidently state that he has good sound knowledge dealing with from the most basic to highly contentious cases. Amongst most current of caseload for example is the 7th October 2017 suspected “terrorist attack” case. His committed dedication and meticulous approach have by word of mouth created clientele nationally.
